Ventura Fest Global Filmmaking in Ventura County

The Ventura Film Festival maintains its position as "the most extensive film festival in Ventura County's history." This remarkable achievement reflects the event's devotion to showcasing international filmmaking to Ventura County while preserving its dedication to significant environmental challenges.

The Ventura Film Festival is established as a diverse genre worldwide film festival that builds consciousness about environmental challenges including terrestrial and aquatic preservation and renewal, by means of a yearly cinema celebration and connected programs. The event capitalizes on the strength of cinema to encourage participation and foster important conversations about these important ecological problems.

The Ventura Film Festival originated in 2004 and has displayed hundreds of movies, regularly over 200 films during summer months, and has attracted attention from the global cinema community. Throughout its history, the event has transformed into a prominent cultural occasion that joins filmmakers, environmental advocates, and audiences from around the world.

Significant highlights have been hosting award winning filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the initial world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend as well as Ian Cairns, 4x world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA combatant martial arts icon Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50th Anniversary tribute to West here Side Story, which included hosting the complete Academy Award winning ensemble of West Side Story, including Oscar recipient/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris and Golden Globe winner/Oscar-nominated Russ Tamblyn. These remarkable visitors and occasions have reinforced the festival's recognition as a top-tier venue for recognizing cinema and the professionals who develop it.

The founder and executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was honored to take part, along with many of Hollywood's top stars, in the 50th Anniversary tribute of West Side Story and Hollywood's legendary footprint/handprint ceremony for Academy Award champions Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, and legendary actor Golden Globe winner Russ Tamblyn at the historic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This event also doubled as the official BluRay debut by Fox and MGM of West Side Story, which is widely considered by critics and fans to be the best musical of all time. This exceptional honor and participation highlights the festival's considerable reach and esteemed status within the entertainment community.
